Take Part Take Pride
Age Concern Sutton took part by hosting a Mad Hatter's tea party which took place on Tuesday 13 July. Everyone enjoyed the event, the rain stayed away and tea was consumed by the gallon!

Breaking News
There's a certain confidence that comes with age. A quiet strength drawn from a life lived, mistakes made and lessons learnt. Age Concern & Help the Aged have almost 120 years of combined experience to draw on. We have cared for many, campaigned for change, and created vital products and services. If these experiences have taught us one thing, it's that there is strength in numbers. That is why we have joined forces. Together, we are Age UK.
Age Concern Sutton will work in partnership with Age UK, the new national charity combining Age Concern England and Help the Aged. By working together we know we can achieve more for older people in the London Borough of Sutton and across the UK.

How can we help Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people in Sutton?
Age Concern Sutton is working in partnership with Sutton Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) forum. Older people are overwhelmingly perceived to be heterosexual (heterosexism), consequently older LGBT people have been invisible in service provision for older people. Equally damaging is that the LGBT community, particularly the commercial gay scene, can be very unwelcoming to its LGBT seniors. Our plans include identifying how we can support the LGBT community. If you would like to speak in confidence or get involved please phone Marion Harper on 020 8770 4098 or email mharper@ageconcernsutton.org.uk. "Older gay men and women in the UK have lived through positive changes in public attitudes towards homosexuality. Yet, when you are brought up to believe you are unnatural, abnormal, just plain queer, age doesn't always help you take advantage of social changes" Sir Ian McKellan - January 2010
